Default Dirt in the eyes and the ears....

We had another go at Klausy's WR today...Before I arrived I picked up clutch master and slave cylinders and 6 wishbones, 2 front and 4 rear. He's been really busy anyway, the front sub frame’s off now, but today we've disconnected the Gearbox electrics, linkage, prop shaft, drive shafts and down pipe support. Just needs the slave cylinder off and the engine supported before the split. Also dropped off the exhaust system, and managed to get a compression test done. The diff locks have, at some stage been butchered/bodged and the actuator rod bent away from the diff, so there's some repair work to be done there, and it looks like the best option for the 'box is to book it into a local specialist for a check-up as there are suspicions

Here's how it looked early-afternoon before the big bits started coming off again.

Oh boy, it's going to be a long job. But Klausy's doing some great work and replacing everything with new.

that view shows just how clean the car is on the whole.... klaus has a very good base for this but the work he's doing is nigh on brilliant!!!

Just a quick question, were the subframes new?

If so, where did you get them from and how much were they?

Hi Andy

Klaus is going to get the subframes bead blasted and restored but the wishbones (with bushes) are all new. They came from GSF at about £23 each, they are OEM with the Audi part numbers on. The reason he got 6 was they were not sure whether the earlier type were required. Not realising the cut-off dates for the rear ARB's.

I don't but Klaus will, they're written all over the bag and wishbones. It's cheaper to buy the wishbone complete than the three seperate bushes.

Bit more tonight... Missed a call from Klausy this evening, clearly he's been busy again...

No explanation, but I'd guess, having disconnected the 'box yesterday, he's pulled both engine and 'box as one item today...

There really is no stopping him at the moment...
