Default Fuba Aerial (again)

My aerial had been playing up a little, so today I decided to remove it for a "service".
Good news is the machanics and motor are fine - just gummed up with very old grease. The PCB was cracked it what seems to be the normal place, but not enough to break the tracks. I reinforced it with some stiff wire soldered beteen a couple of the component leads.

What bugs me is I'm not sure that the mast is extending as far as it should. It wories me that the motor runs for a few seconds after the mast it extended as far as it will go (and fter lowering too). This may put extra strain on the motor/gears.

Here is a picture of the mast extended as far as it will go:-

You can see that 3 segments are fully extended, but the 4th is not - should it be?
The mast looks ok, and the plastic part is not broken. The mast will not extend past this position - I tried pulling on it pretty hard with the mast removed from the rest of the unit, but it won't budge. If it should extend further, I'd better get a replacement mast before something else gets damaged.

Default

4th segment should extend. Total extended length should be slightly in excess of 40cm.
