Default Does RR idle stabilisation valve close?

RR stalling coming off load to long idle.

Throttle body switch is OK, car idles normally otherwise. Checking everything and ran the outbound diagnostics - I can see the ISV opening and closing, but even with it closed there's quite an airflow. Is this normal?

(The MB ISV closes completely with no current through it.)

Pretty sure there has been a slight gap on the ones I've had too Phil.

This one's a bit weird. Picture:

You can see the slit. But it's on the wrong (?) side. When the valve actuates, the "shutter" rotates to close the slit and then opens "fully" on the other side. This seems counter-intuitive.

Does it work via a stepper motor, it seems different to the (say) MB or KV? I'd hazard a guess that the valve is rotating closed too far - hence the slit on the ''wrong'' side appearing. I think you'd have to compare (side by side) with a known good one.

I have two ISV's and one known to be fully working and both have a small gap just like the one you have got.

Oh, great. But is it the "other" side - i.e., the valve has to close on its way to opening?

Anyone with an RR got the time to check? Pull the connector off the ISV, undo the two hose clips, pull the ISV out of the rubber sleeve and then reconnect the connector. It's the first thing exercised by the diagnostics after the injectors - quite easy to see the movement.

Hi Phil

Checked mine. At rest the valve is the same as the picture.

During the output test the gap gets bigger until fully open then snaps back. It doesn't close first. (it happens quickly but I'm sure this is right).

Heh. How are the drains - taking water AWAY yet?

Are you sure the gap is on the same side as yours?

Hi Phil

>Are you sure the gap is on the same side as yours?

Yep. With the pipe at the top the gap is on the left ... sorry! It opens to the right, as-it-were.

Drains are fine, but I take it I can call on you with your trusty bucket if needed again?

Graham.
