Default 86WR Resto begins

Its been abused and neglected for 5 years so its about time i got my act together and sorted it out. I put it down to Edinburgh sports cars and we had our first explore of the rust yesterday.

Nice to see the old girl getting some TLC as its hard to own a quattro and not use it for what it was built for (especially with the fab coastal roads up your way)

So whats the plan? what does she need? Is it just a glass out respray or is their a modocum of mechanical rework aswell?

Its surprisingly rusty in places, the sills are shot and the rear subframe is holed!! there are a few other bits of rust but other than getting that sorted out, it'll get a new paint job and a bloody good service. The engine started for the first time in years and after a couple of splutters it settled into a superb idle and it didn't miss at all.

It might need wish bones but we'll wait and see.

I've had her 11 years since i was 20 so now i'm paying for lack of attention.

Ah...the start of a project I remember it well. 12 months down the line nearly there.
Another UR saved from the spolis. Good luck with her and keep the dream going

Well a small update, the lovely "new from Quattrob" subframe shotblasted. New bushes purchased from Quattro corner. The old girl may be getting a feature in a magazine!

Default The cutting begins

She's pretty bloody rusty in places but not as bad as i had imagined, at least its heading in the right direction now i suppose.

I find it strange that the drivers side A pillar has rotted so badly but the passenger side is fine, is there any reason you guys know of that could cause this? I was thinking a blocked drain hole or something similar.

Wild guess Mike, more exposed to the salt etc from oncoming traffic?

Well i was down to see the old girl yesterday and she's moving along slowly but surely, not much progress but he had a few interesting cars there one of which was a Ferrari Dino owned by the singer from a band called the Rezillos? A bit before my time but interesting anyway i thought.

Here she is all in bits.
