Hmmmmmm so big ends going, that in my book requires a full engine rebuild.......am I correct?

Aye all crank journels should be ground then new bearings, for rods and for main caps, tbh only a bottom end rebuild, unless top end is playing up at all?

Once engine apart you could assess for wear in the cylinders to find out if they need reboring, but if they do then its getting into big money for oversize pistons

crank may be with in tolerance so bearing may be enough, go for a bore hone and rings makes sense for if bearings are shot itll soon be smoking and itll be out and apart, and if head hasn't been rebuild lately may well go for rebuild, guides ete arnt that dear, its just the labour

however thats if you want to, could leave the bearings be and do the work when something else starts to show signs of wear thatll require the engine being out and apart

Just go with the original plan and see what pans out when he strips it, then make a decision ,
