Default What is your favourite music genre? - another fun thread.

As the subject says, what is your favourite music genre? More than one?... tick more than one.

Since John's age poll/thread really inspired some great participation and answers, and since just about every person on the planet has a preferred music genre, I thought this would be a bit of fun too.

I know there may be glaring omissions for some but polls are limited to ten categories so I've picked what I consider to be the most disparate bunch. If you're primarily in to drum and bass or boy bands, I guess you miss out on a primary vote but pick your second choice.

By "R&B", do we take that to mean it's original meaning, or the new and completely different meaning it's developed over the last 10 years or so?

I'm not really sure what the new meaning refers to. I notice in the recent Grammys , there were several R&B related awards - I didn't notice that any rhythm & blues bands were even nominated

I guess I'll stay safe and say Rock.

I know... like I said, there's only ten poll options

Indie, Brit-pop, trance, house, the crap that defies definition that you hear as you walk past MacDonalds cafes, there's so many others.

I love Jazz (among other things) but even that needs to be broken down in to sub categories. There are many who love modern jazz but hate trad jazz.

Jim, yes, another example of a loose category that covers so much. Much of what lies under Mudhoney's 'grunge' is 'blues' but you may find it difficult getting a Muddy Waters fan to enjoy it (even with the "mud" reference).
