I'm guessing (hoping) it was the oil filter seal and therefore a one off incident - but time will tell, the seals in the oil cooler were knackered but not the cause of the oil explosion. Now the 944 is mobile I can get it out the garage and get my lawnmower in to overhaul the cutting deck and then get back to the quattie. The project list seems to be getting longer and this ebay thing doesn't help - whenever I go on there's always something where I think "i could fix that up nice!!"
Had a night out in Newcastle with someone you may know, bloke called Brian (Dabber) Dinsdale from Aysgarth, he thought he used to play pool with you or your brother (or both).
Let me know how you get on with the zinc plating kit, it may be a usefull investment for me and the growing project list!!
I may be older than you but I feel ancient!! Found a few duff hoses on the quattro so we may be taking steps in the right direction towards smoother running but turned my attentions to the 944 for a bit of light relief!! hopefully tackling cambelt soon will be in touch!
Hi Ian thanks for popping in the other day, i hope you got home before it pi$$ed down, apologies for the lack of tea/coffee action when you came I guess i got a bit wrapped up in talking motors!!
Had a bit of a play with the colourtune last night - i got the flame colour right but it still doesn't run any better or stall when the dipstick is pulled. took the rh headlight and grill out tonight to get a better look round the hoses but the wife tempted me away with a glass of wine and that was the end of that - may get a look later this week.
Take care
Dave
