Can't give you an answer until the weekend - I'm no where near the car. You should find that there's a coloured sleeve on the sensor cables where they meet the plug - this should match the colour of the socket from what I remember.

hi again jim just one more quick question on the wiring there are 3 sockts on the firewall
by the master cylinder does the red one go to the knock sensor the other 2 are CPS is that correct cheers steve

my pal who is looking into my quattros lack of enthusiasm for warm starts has discovered the hose from the turbo to the metering head is split. How significant is this? would this affect idling from cold from 800-1200 rpm and also the cars desire to stall given the slightest opportunity, then has to wait 10-15 mins until it will fire again. The engine cranks over ok but wont ignite.

is this hose still available please?

Take the 1237 past Clifton Moor to the A19 roundabout, turn left in towards York, go through the traffic lights and take the next left turn into Howard Drive (near The Mitre pub). Along Howard Drive for a couple of hundred yards then turn right into Eastholme Drive. You'll spot my place on your right almost as you turn in - there's a load of cars parked at the front of the house including a quattro under a silver cover.
