Default Airflow meter unit compatibility

Just a quick question for any technical boffins out there! Is the KV Airflow meter unit from a k-Jetronic (Component no.0438 120 210/034 133 353K)compatible with another meter unit from a different system i.e. KE111-Jetronic/KE-Jetronic or KE-Motronic.I can see no visual difference with the illustrations in Haynes, but that usually mean a Damn thing!

The airflow meter is about the only part on a K-jet which is unique to the application. The shape of the cone in which the air flap moves provides the fuelling 'map'.
An identical cone may be used for a different engine, but I doubt it.

etka shows IMO two part numbers described as Air Flow Meter, dependant on chassis number

035 133 471 L >>85-G-144 745

and

035 133 471 E >>85-G-144 746

each without onboard computer

The fuel metering valve is coming up as numerous p/n's but not resembeling what you have posted.

I dont know if this helps you or not

It sure does Ian; it means that one from a CQ offered for a very reasonable price from a member of this forum, is regrettably not compatible

If its the same configuration engine ie, both 2.2 Non turbo I cant see them being much different. you could always fit your funnel supposing you have got a old one of course...

What are you actully doing? I've got a KV engined GT sat on my back garden

Sorry about the delayed response Gazjen but I have been buried under my bonnet due to my water pump failure! Thank God I managed to borrow the crank locking tool 2084 and a bloody big torque wrench!Back to your question of what am I doing?I was hoping that changing the meter unit might bring about an improvement, relating to fuel consumption & smoothness at tickover, due to my previous problems with excessive consumption. If I could pick one up for the right price at least I could eliminate it from my endless list of possible causes.

That's the number from the little plate on the side of the unit. I have a spare 0438 120 185 / 035 133 353 AB which I was told by Ken Mills Injection is from a KV. Let me know if you're interested.

Assuming my funnel is compatible with the body and assuming that it should work then yes Tim!
