Default It's an age thing

Not going into specifics here, but I was stunned to receive a PM from someone on here today who I 'guessed' was about the same age as myself. I've read many of his posts and they always come across as mature, sensible and considered. It transpires however, he is young enough to be my son!!!

So, here is the simple question above.......

You're older than me (just)

But I certainly know what you mean about the age in your head!

Remember the saying "Everybody can remember where they were when they heard that President Kennedy had been shot"? - well, can you say where you were when your quattro first took to the road?

I can for my MB - I was at Castle Donnington, attending the 1988 'Monsters of Rock' festival. Still got the t-shirt - doesn't fit anymore though.....

Yeah, and I keep asking myself, when I'm in a home (if I make it that far), instead of Gracie Fields playing in the background and Gardening programmes on the telly, will it be AC/DC or something else 80's (or worse - Sex Pistols) playing and Gone in 60 Seconds on the telly?

I was 18 at the time... old enough to drive one but no way able to afford one, not that I could have as they were never released here. Aside form the Cq that rallied here briefly, it was 1988 before I actually saw one (a 1982 car) in the flesh and it was for sale at $80,000AU! The going rate for a grey import in the mid-eighties was $110,000AU.

Where was I when Kennedy was shot?... probably sleeping. I did stay home from school to see Neil Armstrong walk on the moon though.

And yes, still 16 in the head but definitely feel like I have one foot in the grave some days. But I will go to that grave listening to the Sex Pistols!
